Did I ever tell you about the time I nearly died?
It was right after the time I bought a bike for the first time in like 20 years and tried to start cycling.
Red as a beetroot, sucking air like a humpback whale and hanging limp over my handlebars.
I’d only gone a mile.
Fast forward 8 years and I completed the Lands End to John O’Groats cycle ride. 1057 miles in 15 days.
Nowadays, I run.
More of a shorter race type person to be honest, and have done 197 Parkruns. Would be waaaay over 200 by now if it wasn’t for the Lockdown.
So, I’ve gone from as unfit as you can possibly imagine to being quite buff thank you very much.
Anyway, maybe those are reasons you could listen to what I have to say, maybe not. You decide.
But I’ll tell you this: I didn’t achieve that stuff by going ‘hard’ and looking like a beetroot. No, I took my time to build up slowly from the ground up and that’s been most rewarding actually.
Stuck on the couch.
